AVATEL TELECOM

Andorra Telecom will take a new step in its internationalisation process with the purchase of 37% of the shares of Avatel Telecom. This Spanish company provides internet, telephone, television and data storage services and has a strong presence on the Costa del Sol (Malaga), the Costa Blanca (Alacant) and the Campo de Gibraltar (Cadiz).

This telecommunications operator, whose customers include many foreign residents established on the Spanish coast, has a latest-generation fibre optic backbone network over 220 km in length.

This operation makes Andorra Telecom the technological partner for the Spanish telecommunications company. The agreement foresees the provision of annual services from Andorra, such as the monitoring of the network via the Andorra Telecom operations centre, technical support in systems and a telephone helpline through the ESPIC contact centre.

MÁSMÓVIL

In 2017, Andorra Telecom sold its shares in the Spanish telecommunications company Másmóvil. The Andorran company had 2.7% of shares as a result of its participation in the capital increase that took part in July 2016 to fund the acquisition of operators Pepephone and Yoigo.

In total, Andorra Telecom dedicated €10.5 million to this operation. The shares from the Spanish operator underwent a spectacular reassessment as a result of the company’s growth and debut in the Spanish continuous market.

The divestment took place at the end of 2017 with the sale of all shares, yielding over 350%, or capital gains of some €26.7 million for the Andorran company.

ESPIC

The Espic contact centre, which provides customer service for third parties, is closing its second year of activity with a growth in turnover and the number of employees. Espic is a company created by Andorra Telecom and the Medios ST society, located in the Els Arcs building in Massana.

Throughout 2017, the company has consolidated its portfolio of customers, which includes important multinational companies and local customers, and it has increased its turnover by 130%, earning 1.4 million and €287 in yields.

This increase in activity has been accompanied by an increase in the company staff. At the end of the year, the company had 59 employees, and was forced to expand its facilities onto a new floor of the building.
